Welcome to Bloom Play Studio

Bloom Play Studio is founded on the principles of care, compassion, and a child-first philosophy, prioritising each child's unique needs and well-being. Our approach fosters growth, emotional support, and a nurturing environment where children can thrive and flourish.

Commitment to Families

My work extends beyond individual therapy sessions to include support for families. I believe that involving families in the therapeutic process is crucial for fostering a supportive home environment that reinforces the progress made during therapy. I offer guidance and resources to parents, helping them understand the principles of play therapy and how they can support their child’s emotional and behavioural development at home. By working collaboratively with families, we can create a holistic approach to therapy that addresses the needs of the child within the context of their family dynamics.

My background in education and play therapy, coupled with my passion for the arts, positions me uniquely to support children and their families through emotional and behavioural challenges. I am committed to providing a safe, creative, and empathetic environment where children can heal and grow. Whether through play, art, or family collaboration, my goal is to empower children to overcome their difficulties and thrive in their everyday lives.

A little bit about me, Stephanie

I am Steph, a dedicated educator and play therapist with over a decade of experience in helping children overcome emotional and behavioural challenges. My journey into the world of education and play therapy began with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.

I hold a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education (Guidance and Counselling), which has equipped me with a solid foundation in child development and educational practices. My composite background has been instrumental in shaping my approach to play therapy, allowing me to integrate educational theories with therapeutic techniques effectively.

Play Therapy Training

My specialised training in play therapy was completed at the Queensland Institute of Play Therapy, an institution recognised both in Australia and internationally. This rigorous program provided me with the skills and knowledge necessary to address a wide range of emotional and behavioural differences in children. The comprehensive curriculum covered various play therapy modalities, including directive and non-directive approaches, which enabled me to tailor my sessions to meet the unique needs of each child. The training also emphasised the importance of creating a safe and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions through play.

Personal Interests and Creative Approach

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy painting and art-making, activities that not only bring me joy but also enrich my practice as a play therapist. Engaging in artistic pursuits allows me to connect with children on a deeper level, as I can incorporate creative elements into our sessions. Art and play often go hand-in-hand, providing children with additional avenues for self-expression and healing. Whether we are working with clay, drawing, or engaging in imaginative play, I bring a sense of creativity and empathy to every session. These artistic skills enable me to design therapeutic activities that are both engaging and therapeutic, helping children to explore their emotions and experiences in a non-verbal manner.

The Bloom Play Studio
Philosophy

My therapeutic approach centres on the importance of play in child development, using integrative methods like child-centred, filial, and synergetic play therapy. I create a safe, nurturing space where children express emotions, parents participate, and emotional regulation and resilience are fostered.
